Emirates receives the first Airbus A350: 4k screens and web connection everywhere

by Ethan

Emirates, the largest carrier in the Middle East, has finally received his first Airbus A350 – the latest generation aircraft with two aisles intended for intercontinental flights. Even though this aircraft was already within the circulation of many other airlines such as Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Ita Airways, it remains a clear example of the ‘unhinged’ dualismo that exists within Dubai carriers who currently own a fleet of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 jets.

This twin-engine jet “A6-EXA” is set to replace the carrier’s outdated aircraft, being the first of the 65 A350s Emirates has committed to purchase. Emirates plans on adding them into service steadily over the next few years. New Year’s 2024 is when this aircraft is set to go into service alongside its first passengers starting with the route from Dubai to Edinburgh, UK which should be attended by other airlines as well.

In a statement, the carrier indicates that the aircraft A350 can accommodate 312 cabin passengers and offers 3 classes. The various classes consist of 32 business class seats that can be transformed into beds, 21 premium class seats, and 259 economy class seats. Another configuration offers 298 seats. Moreover, business class offers each customer a 20 inch 4k monitor. While in premium and economy class, the monitor is also 4k but is sized 13.3 inches.

Web connectivity is also improved thanks to ViaSat’s Global Xpress satellite network which, the carrier promises, will allow “uninterrupted global connectivity in all destinations, including overflight of the North Pole for direct flights to the Americas”.
